About Mrs. Blankevoort
Let me first say that I LOVE 4th graders. They are at the beginning of their transition into "bigger people". They still love school. They are still little but are starting to want to be "big". Their hearts can still be won with a little excitement and encouragement.
I have a Bachelor's degree from the California State University, Los Angeles in Child Development and a California multi-subject clear credential. I have been teaching 4th Grade at West Covina Christian School since 2005, and I absolutely love it. I feel strongly about making learning fun and engaging to your children. I love reading, and want to share this love with my students by offering them the opportunity to read as much as possible in my classroom.
I am married to my best friend, and together we are raising children. We have a sweet and friendly 2nd grader (Lucy), a construction truck-loving and hands-on preschooler (Zander), and a cuddly bear cub of 4 months (Riley). They keep us young and on our toes.
During the little spare time I do have from being a mommy, wife and teacher, I love to scrapbook and read. I try to fit it in whenever I can. I also love to travel. Although these days that means a road trip to San Diego, in the past I have traveled to many countries including many parts of Europe, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand as well as all over California and Hawaii.
I also love The Golden State, its coasts, mountains, agricultural and rich history. I love teaching 4th grade as it gives me the opportunity to discuss some of my favorite things about California including the Gold Rush, the California Missions, and its beautiful agriculture.
I am excited for this school year and for the journey ahead of us. God has greatly blessed me with the wonderful job where I get to be a student as well as a teacher. I look forward to learning along with your children.
